Dozens Injured at Hurricane Harbor Splashtown

More than 30 people, including children, were taken to area hospitals following a chemical leak at Six Flags Hurricane Harbor Splashtown in Spring, Texas.   The number of people affected continues to climb. 

The leaks have been identified as a combination of sulfuric acid and liquid bleach.

Of those taken to the hospital, several individuals reported serious personal injuries, with many listed in critical condition.  More than 100 patrons have gone through the decontamination process.

The types of injuries related to chemical spills vary, but may include eye injuries, skin irritation, and potential organ injuries.  These injuries may occur as the result of direct exposure such as inhalation or ingestion of a chemical.  They may also arise due to general contact with hazardous materials.  In this instance, at least one individual reported serious respiratory distress.

Victims at the water park reported a chaotic scene and worry about the long-term effects of the contamination.
