Chris Pinedo has represented individuals who have suffered serious injuries for over twenty years. Originally from Houston, Texas, he received a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from the University of Steubenville, in Steubenville, Ohio in 1983. He received the Regis Stafford Award for excellence in Business Administration from the University of Steubenville which is given to the most outstanding student in Business Administration. In 1988, he received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Michigan Law School where he was a member of Phi Delta Phi.
Upon graduation from the University of Michigan, he practiced law in the Detroit area for five years, focusing on products liability. In 1994 he returned to Texas and received his license to practice law in Texas. Mr. Pinedo went on to join the Edwards Perry and Haas Law Firm and later the Watts Law Firm, both located in Corpus Christi, Texas. Mr. Pinedo has handled a variety of catastrophic injury and death cases.
His cases have been reported in The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, The New York Times, Texas Monthly, Texas Lawyer and other publications. He was lead counsel for Margie Sanchez in Margie Sanchez v. Warner Lambert which was the first Rezulin (a diabetes drug) case to result in a Plaintiffs’ verdict. The jury awarded $143,000,000.00 in compensatory and punitive damages (net to client: $6,450,000 | expenses: $150,000 | attorney fees: $4,400,000 | Liver Damage). Mr. Pinedo, is never one to shy away from a difficult fight. “I take pride in representing David against Goliath”. He has taken on some of the largest corporations in the world and prevailed. One of his groundbreaking cases helped lead to a nationwide recall of defective fans that had led to several fires. Another one of his cases was featured on ABC’s 20/20. In 2002, he was jointly awarded the Trial Lawyer of the Year award by the American Association for Justice.
Due to the national nature of his practice, Mr. Pinedo has been licensed in multiple courts including Federal District Courts in California, Texas and Michigan. Besides Texas, Mr. Pinedo is also licensed to practice law in the state courts of Arizona and California. Mr. Pinedo has handled many fire and explosion cases and has recovered several multi-million dollar settlements for his clients. He has also successfully represented injured individuals in oil field and trucking cases in several states around the nation.
