Lauren Akers

Attorney

Lauren Akers earned her Juris Doctorate from the University of Oklahoma College of Law in 2010, where she was an assistant articles editor and judiciary committee member of the Oklahoma Law Review.  While in law school, Lauren also founded the 109th chapter of the National Animal Legal Defense Fund, a national animal law advocacy organization committed to protecting the lives and advancing the interests of animals through the legal system. Prior to law school, Lauren earned her bachelor’s degree from Trinity University in San Antonio, TX, where she graduated cum laude.

Since joining Hilliard Law in November 2014, Lauren has worked closely with Bob Hilliard in support of his role as Co-Lead Counsel in the high-profile General Motors ignition switch multi-district litigation pending in the Southern District of New York, including serving as chief attorney liaison for MDL bellwether trial nos. 7-13.  Lauren has continued to specialize in the area of mass torts, and is currently leading six consumer class action lawsuits against General Motors, Ford Motor Company, and FCA US LLC stemming from the manufacturers’ sale and distribution of heavy-duty diesel-engine vehicles containing a defective CP4 high-pressure fuel injection pump.
