Anthony Godfrey

Attorney

Anthony Godfrey has nearly a decade of legal experience that he now puts to good use as a Mass Tort Attorney at Hilliard Law.

Before joining the firm, Anthony lived in Guatemala and worked as an aide to the Vice President of Guatemala. In this role, he helped promote better environmental regulations and actions to stop gender-based violence. A lifelong passion for helping others led him to attend the Dedman School of Law in Texas as a Presidential Scholarship Recipient, making the beginning of his already impressive career as a legal professional. He has also worked with the appellate division of the Federal Public Defender of the Northern District of Texas (including a case win in the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals) and as a Guardian and Attorney ad litem for children through the W.W. Caruth, Jr. Child Advocacy Clinic.

Anthony graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Spanish Literature, and International Relations from Abilene Christian University in Abilene, Texas, where he graduated cum laude. He completed his J.D. at Southern Methodist University (SMU) Dedman School of Law. While working on his J.D., Anthony finished and published many noteworthy articles and papers, including ¡Ahora Dicen Que Los Guatemaltecos Somos Genocidas! Now They Will See Us as Genocidal! – When Due Process, Justice, and International Consensus Collide in Guatemala, an important look into the Guatemalan genocide that is rarely talked about in the news or history books.

When not working on a case, Anthony likes playing blues guitar, cycling, and rooting for FC Dallas soccer. He is also a Member of the International Carnivorous Plant Society.
