Gonzalo Joseph Barrientos is a trial lawyer with more than three decades of experience representing individuals and families in catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases. His practice focuses on complex litigation involving product liability, automotive defects, commercial trucking collisions, oilfield incidents, premises liability, and dram shop claims. Over the course of his career, he has secured significant verdicts and settlements against major corporations and national companies, holding them accountable for unsafe practices and defective products.
Joseph began his legal career as a felony prosecutor with the Travis County District Attorney’s Office, where he served as chief prosecuting attorney in the 147th Judicial District Court. He later transitioned to private practice, becoming a partner at Perry & Haas and subsequently working alongside prominent trial lawyer Mikal Watts for more than a decade representing injured clients nationwide.
Since joining Hilliard Law, Joseph has continued to advocate for the catastrophically injured and their families, obtaining substantial results on their behalf and bringing decades of courtroom experience to the firm’s trial practice.
He has also demonstrated a long-standing commitment to access to justice, having been appointed by the Supreme Court of Texas to the Texas Access to Justice Foundation, where he has served in leadership roles including treasurer and vice chair.
Joseph was born and raised in Austin, Texas. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas and his law degree from the University of Texas School of Law. He and his wife, Lisa, a County Court at Law Judge in Corpus Christi, have three adult children.
